EXPLORE OUR COUNTRY
Welcome To Northern Region
The Northern Region comprises 13 out of the 110 districts in
the country. Predominantly characterized by low-lying terrain,
the exception lies in the northeastern corner, marked by the
Gambaga escarpment, and along the western corridor.
Its landscape is predominantly drained by the tributaries of
the Volta Lake, including Rivers Nasia, Daka, Oti, the Black,
and White Volta. Encompassing over a third of the total landmass,
which measures 70,390 square kilometers, the Northern Region
surpasses the combined size of other regions like Volta, Ashanti,
Western, and Greater Accra. It can rightfully be deemed the
largest among them all, earning the title of the mother of all
Regions!
